Karen Straight
Kalispell artist Karen Straight shares a collection of contemporary wildlife that blurs the line between a traditional craft and fine art. Working primarily in wool, Karen “paints” using a barbed needle to felt wool and silk into large scale portraits of animals. “I create richly textured, dimensional works that give animals a strong sense of presence and convey their individuality, dignity, and emotional resonance.” Karen’s work invites you to pause, look closer, take in the dimensional detail, and feel the emotional resonance she builds into every animal she portrays.
