Each piece is individually designed and hand woven on a traditional loom using variations of a plain/tabby weave structure.
My emphasis is playing with fiber combination, color and texture. Once cut from the loom, fabric is gently washed for shrinkage and
fiber stability.
Wraps are finished by hand knotting or top stitching the fringe; fabric for garments is cut to size, surged to prevent fraying and a zig-zag stitching is
then added for
additional structure and durability. Embellishments
are applied.
Rayon/chenille is my preferred fiber for its suppleness
and luminosity.
Other fibers include linen, cotton, and specialty yarns.
